Human Being Or Human Doing

Human Being or Human Doing, which one are we? My wife introduced me to this concept years ago and it set me free. Sometimes I start to go back into the Human Doing mode and have to make a conscious effort to stop and change direction. So what is the difference and how do we know when we crossover? Human Being or Human Doing!

I believe the Lord created us as Human Beings. In the Garden of Eden, we simply had to just be. It was a place of fellowshipping with the Lord Himself and walking with Him in the cool of the day. We can also see this picture with Mary and Martha when Jesus came to visit. Mary was in the mode of human being while Martha was in the mode of human doing. Martha complains to Jesus about Mary, but it was Martha whom He corrected.

Luke 10:38-42 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

This is a very important part of our lives. Are we a human being or are we a human doing. Far too often, I think most of us are like Martha. We get so caught up in the things we are supposed to be doing that we forget about love. Love doesn’t care about all the mistakes we make or that we have to be perfect, it just is. Listen to this song by Margaret Becker called “Just Come In.” I bought this album and listened to it over and over again until I got this message inside of my heart. It has set me free and helped me to understand Father’s love for me. Check it out. Everytime I listen to it, it still goes deep and ministers to me. Get in a quiet place and just let Holy Spirit minister to your heart. I guarantee your life will be changed. Things, cares and distractions will simply fall away. Invite Him into your heart and let Him pour His love in and change your life forever. This is the message of love. I wish everyone could get this. It would change the Body of Christ and the world.

We need to do things out of love for each other, not because we feel we have to do it. Love causes us to soar on high, while expectations cause us to get frustrated and angry. When I find myself frustrated and angry, I back off because I’ve walked away from love. I want to do things for my family because I love them and not because of expectation by them or myself. Find the way of Love and walk with Him. Let Him change your life, just come as you are. Explore what real Love is and you will never be the same nor will you ever want to go back to where you are now. Here’s to you and a new day in your life. Become a human being and not a human doing.
